What We Do

Parents of Black Children is fully committed to facilitating and advocating for Black students to achieve their fullest potential, by working as a collective to ensure institutional strategies are in place at all schools to meet the needs of African Canadian students.

 

Our Goals

Lobby school boards to ensure rigorous disaggregated data collection.

Work to eliminate anti-Black racism and oppression for Black students within their schools and connected systems.

Open a continued dialogue with school boards, independent and private schools about anti-oppressive practices, culturally responsive pedagogy and anti-Black racism withintheir schools and connected systems.

Build the capacity of parents of Black children and that of Black students to advocate for change within the education and connected systems, to help facilitate their success.

Be the voice of all Parents of Black children, so no parent must stand alone to fight for a just, safe and equitable education for their child.
